Achieving the Perfect Country Chic Look
Tammie’s most recent design featuring Francini products transformed a client’s outdated kitchen, mudroom, and hall bath. This early 2000s home had an awkwardly shaped kitchen, most notably the kitchen island! Family-oriented, our client needed a kitchen update that would better serve as a gathering place in their forever home. Our client wanted a more open layout, better functionality, and better use of space. Aesthetically, they wanted a very specific modern farmhouse chic style that we loved bringing to life with our material selections and custom design elements! While the kitchen remodel was the major focus, we also remodeled the mudroom and hall bathroom so these spaces could harmonize and function in more practical ways based on the specific wants and needs of the client and their lifestyle.
We replaced the oddly shaped, 2-level kitchen island with a large, gorgeous peninsula that created more counter workspace, storage below, and plenty of seating. We went with a beautiful Vesuvio Lucastone Quartz from Francini’s Movimento Marmo series for the countertop in the kitchen, mudroom, and hall bath, which subtly homogenized the rooms and brought the entire first level of the home together so nicely. When remodeling any area of a home, it’s so important to blend the old with the new! A home remodel should achieve the desired updates while still tastefully matching the existing elements of the home, so the new doesn’t look out of place. Our Francini’s quartz selection was an essential material that helped us to achieve the country chic, modern farmhouse feeling we were going for on this project.

Layering textures was key for this traditional yet contemporary farmhouse vibe. Every detail was carefully selected from the farmhouse sink and the unique faucet handle, all the way to the one-of-a-kind custom cabinets that were hand distressed to create a reclaimed, rustic look. The cool, clean, low shine quartz countertop plays well with the rustic wood and weathered metals by bringing a lovely contrast. Other details we love about this project are the differences and similarities in the mudroom and kitchen backsplashes. The tile selections in the mudroom and kitchen are quite different from each other in looks, yet they still have the commonality of the hexagonal tile shape, and both match the quartz countertop and distressed cabinetry well. Blending these design elements brought that old-paired-with-new look we wanted, all while being incredibly stylish and charming.
Through thoughtful design and material selections, Tammie was able to take an awkward, early 2000s space and turn it into the modern farmhouse, country chic home that our client had been dreaming about for years. The kitchen is now a bright, gorgeous gathering place that is ready for hosting family and friends, and the mudroom and hall bathroom received much-needed updates. We love how this project is a perfect example of not just how countertop selections are so important when it comes to harmonizing different areas within a home, but also how a countertop can be used to tie in the different colors and textures of a space and really become the centerpiece of a room…or as Tammie likes to call it, “the icing on the cake!”.
