How to Make Your Kitchen Feel Bigger

16 Feb, 2017 | Lifestyle |
Your kitchen is one of the most used, most beloved rooms in your home. If yours is short on space, it doesn’t have to be short on style. There are a few upgrades you can consider that make small kitchens feel larger and more stylish. Each one brings with it a sense of style and space by tricking the eye into thinking the space is larger than it is.

Choose Light Colors

If your small kitchen has dark cabinets, it’s time to upgrade them to white or another light color. This can be done easily by painting them yourself or even by replacing them all together. The lighter the space, the larger it looks.

Update Your Countertops

Old, dated countertops make a kitchen look small and dark, but bright new countertops can change the entire look of your kitchen. To make the space larger and to find a return on your investment, choose granite or quartz or marble. Choose a light color with a little design to it. This allows you to create a chic space big on style.

Get Rid of Clutter

You want the convenience of keeping your toaster and coffee pot and other items on the counter, but they clutter up your space and make it look smaller. Now is a great time to invest in something like a rolling bar cart or island you can store in the pantry, laundry room, or a closet when it’s not in use. Keep countertop items on this cart so all you have to do is plug them in for use when you roll it out. Your counters stay clean and chic, and your kitchen looks larger.

Making your kitchen feel larger is as simple as choosing brighter colors and bidding farewell to clutter. If you can consolidate your space by having a wall oven installed and keeping your microwave mounted above the stove, you can create more counter space. Everything works together to create the illusion of more space no matter how small a kitchen is in reality. Employ just one or all of these tips and see how much larger your kitchen feels.
